Beam calculations
Structural Design of a 6.2m Span Beam
The project involved the design of a 6.2m span Universal Column (UC) section beam. This beam was tasked with supporting a significant load, including the floor, ceiling, roof, and an external cavity wall above. To enhance its load-bearing capacity, a plate was welded to the bottom of the UC section to support the external leaf. The beam was securely supported by 215mm thick brick pillars on either side.

Section Selection : Selection of an appropriate UC section to withstand the applied loads.
Plate Design : The welded plate is designed to ensure adequate support for the external leaf.
